Bremen
Welcome to CorrelAidXBremen! The Local Chapter Bremen was founded in 2018 and was initially very student-oriented. Nowadays, we are a diverse mix of data enthusiasts from different fields of study and work - from social sciences to communications to computer science. We have different skill levels, but we are all united by the idea of using data analysis as means to do something good /do a good deed. So if you are interested in Data4Good in Bremen and the surrounding area you have come to the right place!
It is important to us to learn from and with each other as well as with a practical orientation. That’s why we launched the Bremen Data Meet-Up, where we tackle data challenges in R, present small projects to each other (e.g. an analysis within a seminar paper or a data visualization in Python), or we just get together and have a chat. This all happens in an informal and relaxed atmosphere and any questions (including those supposedly “stupid” ones) may be asked.
In order to work with real-world data as much as possible, we regularly get in touch with local initiatives and offer our support in achieving their charitable goals. This has already resulted in one or two exciting collaborations, but we would like to expand our efforts in this area in the future. We hope that we can establish a network of data analysts and partner organizations in the Northwest and thus spread the Data4Good idea further.
Our chapter call takes place every two weeks on Mondays. Here we push CorrelAid Bremen forward, discuss project ideas and plan our next steps. We are always looking for active supporters, but we are also happy to welcome occasional visitors. The chapter call is a good opportunity to say hello and to get to know each other.
Most of our work is done online, so interested people from all over Northwest Germany can join us easily. If you are interested in volunteering for data projects or just want to get in touch with like-minded people, please send us a short message to bremen@correlaid.org. We are looking forward to meeting you!

Alice

Alice currently coordinates the local chapter Bremen and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. She studied political science and social research and likes to approach social problems with empirical data analysis. She is involved in CorrelAid because here not only the good cause of NPOs is supported, but also data enthusiasts improve their skills through real-world projects and peer learning. Win-win for everyone!
